  • People Finder for SharePoint Server 2013 and 2016, is a SharePoint Solution Package (WSP).​
  • Depending on your SharePoint version, we provide a package with an installer application (2013) or a WSP and a PowerShell script (2016).
  • Once installed the solution package into your SharePoint farm, activate the site collection features that enables People Finder and eDirectory web parts, and configure them.

 

  • People Finder uses Active Directory or any other LDAP source, to find and display users, so a clear and well defined LDAP URL or connection string is needed, alongside with a username and password with read access to the LDAP data source.
  • People Finder needs a 3rd party JavaScript library called jQuery. We provide this library when People Finder is installed, however, if your site already is using jQuery, we need to avoid conflicts, so one jQuery must be disabled, either yours or the one provided with People Finder.
  • You need Farm Administrator permissions to be able to install this solution package and deploy it on all WFE servers.

 

  1. Unzip provided PeopleFinder.zip package to a temporary folder on one of the SharePoint servers in your farm.
  2. Execute ProductsDashboard.exe file, which is the installer package. On the installer application wizard, click Next.
  3. This is a system check, if all items are OK, click Next.
  4. Accept the terms in licence agreement and click Next.
  5. Select the web application and site collection where you want to deploy People Finder, then click Next.
  6. Please wait while the installer is deploying Products Dashboard solution package into your SharePoint farm.
  7. Once deployment is complete, click Next, then Close when installation is complete.

 

  1. Unzip provided PeopleFinder.zip package to a temporary folder on one of the SharePoint servers in your farm.
  2. Execute PeopleFinder.exe file, which is the installer package. On the installer application wizard, click Next.
  3. This is a system check, if all items are OK, click Next.
  4. Accept the terms in licence agreement and click Next.
  5. Select the web application and site collection where you want to deploy People Finder, then click Next.
  6. Please wait while the installer is deploying People Finder solution package into your SharePoint farm.
  7. Once deployment is complete, click Next, then Close when installation is complete.

You are now ready to go!

 
Overview
  1. Go to your site collection, Site Settings, Site Collection Features.
  2. Find the features SimpleSharePoint: People Finder and SimpleSharePoint: People Finder Directory, then click Deactivate on both of them.
  3. Execute the provided PeopleFinder.exe installer package.
  4. Click Next until you see the options Repair or Remove, and choose the option Remove​.
People Finder is now uninstalled.

 

In case PeopleFinder.exe installer package is not available

  1. Go to SharePoint Central Administration site, then System Settings, Manage Farm Solutions.
  2. ​Locate strong>SPP.PeopleFinder.wsp farm solution (status should be Deployed)
  3. Click on SPP.PeopleFinder.wsp and choose Retract Solution
  4. Wait a few minutes and click on Solution Management, then SPP.PeopleFinder.wsp again.
  5. Click Remove Solution.
People Finder is now uninstalled.
